We're Alive!

Oct 25, 2010
Just a quick note, stating that we are all alive still.

Yes it has been a while, yes some things are still hectic, yes Tori is sleeping somewhat better at night, no she still hasn't rolled over.

She has however laughed, it is the most precious thing ever!! She LOVES to grab hair, stick her tongue out, kick her legs, suck on my mugs straw!?! and she is doing better at eating her cereal.  We are now doing cereal twice a day, once in the morning around 10 and again at night around 7:30.

A few things of happiness, aside from Tori;
 - Tori was blessed on October 17th!!
 - We made Salsa!!
 - We made Salsa almost all on our own (we had to call the Experts for a few things) Thanks Mom & Dad B
 - We have 29 pints of Salsa
 - Oh, wait we have 28 pints (we ate one last night)
 - We're hoping to make more this week if our loving farmers are able to grab a box for us!!
 - Halloween is a few days away and we're still in search of a costume (or deciding what we're doing)
 - Realization that we HAVE to celebrate holidays now has hit...dang I need decorations!!
 - Sleep is slowly coming back to all of us
 - Work is asking I come back Full Time in January (this scares me for Tori's sake)
 - On the hunt of a good day care or other possibilites 2 - 3 days a week for beloved Tori (this makes me sad )
 - We've decided to take a week off in November!!!

Thanks for listening to my wee rant of the happenings at our house, I realized it had been a couple of months and thought I'd better list something while I had the chance.

Happenings at our House

Aug 26, 2010
Some things have stayed the same, some things have changed.

Of course part of the change has been Tori.  We went to the doc today as I thought she might have an earache because she has been grumpy & pulling on her ear.  Which is not normal for her.  So, I learned that she weighs 12.8 pounds, is 23 inches long and has a head measurement of 39.5; not entirely sure what the head measurement is in, but there ya go.  Those are her stats.  And, good news is she is perfectly healthy and just going through a phase.

Another change has been a sad one of late.  Over the last week and a half most of our fish have died.  As of today we have a whopping 2 left alive and I think one of them is on its last fin.  Not sure what it is that truly was the death bringer to our fish.  It could have the chemical I put in the top pond to kill the string algae, it could have been my failure to clean it weekly like I used to (dang child taking up all my time), or it could have been the combination of having 3 snakes invade their territory too.  Not sure if the snakes would have done anything to them or left anything bad in the pond...but whatever the cause, death is visiting the pond.

Otherwise, we're doing good. Tori is enjoying the day she spends with Gramma & Grampa once a week, as well as visiting with Miss Heather for half a day each week, not to mention the half day of just her & Daddy time.

Until the next chance, I hope as is well with everyone and just know we love you and miss you all.  Sorry, but we have become hermits!!

Two Month Check-up

Jul 5, 2010
We had our two month check up last Friday, which is hard to believe the time has gone by so quickly. Doc said everything looks good and he has no concerns. Even with her being tall and skinny. She is 23" tall, weighs in at 10 pounds and 4.5 ounces. Her head however is still tiny coming in at 14.5 inches. Apparently her head size is 8% of what is considered average. Her height is 78% and weight is 41%. So...we have a model on our hands!! Just wait until she's older!! She also had her first round of shots. Which went okay but she didn't want to move her leg that had two shots in it.

As far as home goes, life is good. I've thoroughly enjoyed staying home & just being mom. A little scared as I go back to work tomorrow and I'm not sure if or how much they'll let me change my schedule. So I now worry about if I need to find a day care in case I have to be in the office three days vs the two I'm hoping for. The other question going in my head "Is the offer from neighbors real or just for show?!?"

Here's hoping that we figure things out and it all works out without going to day care.

I do have to say...thank you grandparents for being able to help watch on a weekly basis!! We appreciate it so very much!!

Almost a full nights rest

Jun 16, 2010
I'm so proud of Little One. Last night she slept all on her own in her own crib!!! Plus she only woke up at 4am hungry. Then again around 7:45. Mind you this is a first for her to sleep this long. Usually it's just the one time after her midnight feed that she sleeps four hours, not twice!

I'm not sure what to do with all this rest!!

Here's to hoping it continues thru to tonight and many more nights!!

Laziness Everywhere

Jun 15, 2010
So we really are alive. Lately it's been just too difficult to make it to the computer and post anything.

Our days go like so: eat, sleep, eat again, sleep some more. Maybe get up and moving by 11. Sometimes it's 1 if eyes are REALLY red. Eat some more Little One sleeps & I find chores to do.  This continues until Dad comes home then if I'm lucky I steal a quick shower. Lately Dad has been doing dinners, which I'm SO thankful for seeing as my days are full of eating & sleeping.

As of late, Little One doesn't sleep well in her crib. Really it's the bassinet still but I call it the crib. After eating we burb and she tends to crash on whomevers shoulder she's on. Once we put her in the crib however the stinker wakes up!!!  So, we as the parents (mainly myself) just go to bed with her. Cause let's face it I'm exhausted at 2 in the morning and I just want sleep.

Now breaking each other of these habits are going to be difficult, I know but how do you stand by & let Little One cry herself to sleep when my head says she needs me. Granted I think she's gotten used to sleeping on a body and i just need to stop being lazy at night. But still. How do you break habits?

We tried last night. She'd last 25 minutes (on average) then wake up. Once she was picked up the crying stopped and she went back to sleep. Well for another 20 minutes or so. I did this with her from midnight until 4am. Then I gave in.

Help!! Advice is greatly needed and would be most appreciated!!
